Flip Flap Bag Tutorial

Here is a helpful picture tutorial on how to make the Flip Flap Bag. (This is not the actual pattern, just helpful photos and tips. You still must purchase the pattern to complete the bag.) This tutorial  is available under the Tutorials Tab. The Flip Flap is a fun bag with two easy-to-make hidden pockets! Perfect for everyday or traveling! The pattern is available HERE and is available in paper & PDF form. Click on the photos to enlarge. Enjoy!

  1. I bought the pattern for the flip flap bag- it only slightly resembles this one, but is the same idea. With a bit of time and patience the bag went together easier than I dared hope and turned out quite nice. A dowel was required to give stability to the top of the bag- it frequently poked out on the ends, no matter how diligently I tried to stop it, so I simply removed it. I am contemplating making another one from vintage fabrics, lace, an embroidered tablecloth, etc...

  3. I love this bag, and my granddaughter is patiently waiting for me to finish it. But I am so confused that I had to recruit my husband to help me...and even he is confused! Do you have a video available? I would definitely pay to watch someone put this together!

  6. Looks easy but ended rather abruptly I think. What are the steps after sewing?

  7. The inside pocket says to line rough edges to the 3” line and sew a ¼”. If I do that it closes the pocket completely. Makes no sense and there are no pictures to use as an example.

    1. I finally figured it out. The rough edges are the bottom of the pocket. Makes sense now.

  8. It doesn't make sense to me. My first and last pattern from this company. Needs a video tutorial!

  9. I'm having trouble figuring out if sew the straps to the inside or outside of the bag

  10. The straps are attached to the outside (right side of fabric). The strap ultimately winds up between the outside of the bag and the lining. Hope this helps.
